Poeta de Luz
We first came across Karla’s lamps in 2020 during a trip to Oaxaca that changed the way we saw light. Her pieces felt alive—sculptural forms that held warmth, simplicity, and a quiet strength. We almost missed our flight trying to find her studio before heading back to LA. When we finally met Karla and saw her work in person, it was clear that each lamp carried her presence, her pace, her soul.
There’s a deep respect for tradition in Oaxaca. You feel it in the land, in the food, in the way artists speak about their craft. Visiting Karla’s studio reminded us that beauty doesn’t need to be loud. It can be soft, slow, and filled with meaning.

KA ILUMINACIÓN
An ode to the light that illuminates the earth.
Light travels. It begins its journey at the source that emits it,crossing ridges, valleys and mountains that create whimsical landscapes of shadows and illuminated planes. In that lies the beauty of its existence. Creation, like the path of light, is an odyssey. In a world where the darkness of speed consumes what needs to be created slowly, what is handmade and infused with the creator’s soul becomes the purest form of resistance. Oaxaca is the epitome of resistance — a land of farmers, artists and artisans who find inspiration in our origin and create with the intent to show the world our own universe. We are a universe in ourselves.
Our luminaires are an ode to the earth, a reflection of the kindness of nature, of the abundance it gives us. Flowers and fruits from the field; cempasúchil, totomoxtle, amate, ixtle, cochineal and cacao accompany these vessels of light on their journey.
