Shin Il Kim

Shin il Kim, a South Korean artist based in New York, explores a space between the second and third dimensions, which he calls the "2 1/2th dimension." This transitional zone bridges drawing and three-dimensionality. Kim creates this effect by layering colorless outlines on paper and filming them on video. The resulting work plays with visibility and invisibility, inviting interpretation and analysis. Drawing inspiration from Raphael's "Transfiguration of Christ," Kim utilizes models and video manipulation to explore themes of faith, superstition, and authority in his immersive installations.
