Sebastián Espejo

Chilean artist Sebastián Espejo approaches painting through traces of pictorial practice: the stain, the graphic, and the plane, using the language of poetry as a way of observing the everyday. In his work, accumulated surfaces, fragments of seashells, and paint caps become part of the work's material language. His recent paintings, begun in London and Chile and completed in Los Angeles during his residency with Ysasi Gallery, trace a movement between places, revealing the layers and connections that emerge through observation and lived experience.
